Tehsil T.Narsipur, District Mysuru (Mysuru), Karnataka, Bharat

Also spelled Thirumakudalu Narasipura or T.N. Pura

Thirumakudalu - three rivers meeting place. Rivers are Cauvery, Kapila, & Spatika Sarovara, a gupta Gamini.

Thirumakudalu is the place where Agastheswara temple is situated. River Kaveri followed Maharishi Agasthya as he went through the Dandakarnya. Agasthya wanted to offer prayers to Shiva when he reached this place. He ordered Hanuman to to get a Shiva Lingam from Kashi, Hanuman got delayed in reaching on scheduled time, hence Agsthaya installed a Sand Lingam. When Hanuman arrived late, He was angry and wanted to dismantle the Sand Lingam. His effort of dismantling the lingam failed and he had hit the Lingam with his fist. The fist mark is visible on the Shiva lingam and water is oozing out even today. The lingam is at a height of about 60feet from the river bed of Kaveri and Kapili.

Narasipura - Named after a famous temple here of "Gunja Narasimha Swamy".

This is the only place in south India where Kumba mela happens.

Thirumakudalu is the expansion of the initials of famous Violinist T.Chowdiah (Piteelu Chowdiah).
